Another Sellout?

So, it looks like all you bitchers and moaners out there that hate the manufacturers that cater to the DIY'rs can add Young Nails to your boycott list.  I, still, don't care.  DIY doesn't affect me at all.

Me, I don't care either. Their sneakiness (I know, that's not a real word) leaves a little something to be desired, but my clients are NOT the DIY type. Please...

I think we are going to see more and more of this. In 5 years' time, gel polish will be just like regular ole nail polish and it will be sold in drugstores and mass market and nobody will blink an eye anymore.

What techs need to focus on are the skills that they bring that NO DIY'er can do. And that is build a natural looking extension for the woman who can't grow them worth shit, or hates the way they break and split and peel. Because let's face it, if you can do that, you have a skill that is very desireable. So many of us (myself included) focus on blinged out nails that are fun and profitable to do. But if you really want to become irreplaceable, figure out how to make a set of nails that look natural and promote the crap out of that. Because that takes skill and talent and a lot of years of practice and it's not something some drugstore wannabe can knock off after work some evening while she's watching TV. Just sayin'.
